The Beach!

5.29.12

After the drive from Georgia to Orange Beach, AL, we wasted no time heading straight to the beach!  I think we had our feet in the sand within 20 minutes of arriving at our condo.

5.30.12

The kids really had fun playing in the sand.  On most days we headed out to the beach first thing in the morning, and then again in the late afternoon or evening.

5.31.12

We drove to Mobile Bay to visit the USS Alabama Battleship, a submarine, and museum.  It was really interesting to go inside the battleship and submarine.

6.1.12

Teagan loved being in the water with her daddy.

Asher loved his helmet he got at the Battleship gift shop.  He considers it proper headwear for any occasion.

6.2.12

I love seeing dolphins, so of course we had to go on a dolphin watching boat ride.  The kids liked being on the boat, especially when they got to help "drive" the boat.  We saw several dolphins come to the surface, but it wasn't really anything spectacular.

6.3.12

The long drive home.  Amazingly, we traveled for 11 hours with only 2 1/2 stops.

Georgia

5.22.12

Making pop bead jewelry.  Asher was already decked out in his hat and a bracelet on his arm.

5.23.12

Hanging out and snacking.

5.24.12

Another one of Teagan's fashion creations.

Teagan is so good with diapers.  When Asher was a baby, she observed and helped with every single diaper change!  She's a pro with her baby dolls, and sometimes she can even convince Asher to be her baby and then she will diaper him.

5.25.12
Birmingham, AL

After a full day of driving, we arrived in Birmingham, AL to visit my friend Lani.  The kids were so happy to be out of there car seats and running around.

We ate dinner at restaurant with a nice outdoor patio.  The weather was beautiful and the kids could run around while I got to catch up with Lani.

5.26.12
Byron, GA

After leaving Birmingham, we made a stop along the way for Paul to choose a new gun at a special government surplus gun store he has always wanted to go to.  Back in the car again, we drove 3 more hours to arrive at April's house just outside of Atlanta.  After dinner and some playing with cousins, the kiddos were out for the night.

5.27.12

We started out the morning in Georgia with a walk to the park down the street from April's house.  We had a assortment of scooters, bikes, and push toys to transport all the children.  Ethan found a frog which became his temporary pet.  He offered to find one for Teagan also, but I'm not so sure she'd actually want to hold it.

5.28.12

Teagan playing her baby cousin Mattie.  Although Teagan enjoyed her cousin's collection of trains, toy guns, and airplanes, she can't wait until Mattie is old enough to play dolls with her.

After visiting the Air Museum and grilling for Memorial Day, we had a cake for dessert.  Since we don't get to celebrate birthdays together, this was our chance to turn it into a birthday cake for everyone.  The kids all loved having a piece with their own candle.

Next up.... Off to the beach!

Asher Puppy

5.18.12

Taking Asher puppy for a walk.

Asher loves wearing his backpack.  I'm sure he had it loaded up with something very important for his scooter ride.

 5.19.12

Picnic time at the park!

5.20.12

Swimming pool safety goggles on and ready to hammer away with a book.

Teagan enjoyed getting a hairdo from her friends.  One time she was playing and told me that she was going to the beauty salon.  When I asked her what you do at the beauty salon, she told me, "You get beautiful."  Of course.

5.21.12

We spend a lot of time at the chiropractor.  Teagan and Asher love to put pillows on the floor to create their own adjusting table and then give each other "stretches."

Puppies

5.14.12
Teagan and Asher both love to pretend that they are puppies.  They want me to put food and water in bowls on the floor and Teagan puppy wanted Asher to take her on a walk outside with the leash.  Eventually I convinced them to at least put the leash around their waists.

5.15.12

Bedtime snack!  They are like little mirrors of each other at times with their mannerisms and expressions.

5.16.12
Asher is always looking for his "double" so he can dig in the dirt.

5.17.12

Aunt Beth gave Teagan a kids cd player for her birthday.  She was having fun singing along with Lori Berkner.

Hanging out eating, wearing one boot, a t-shirt, bib, and hat while holding a fly swatter.  You can never be too prepared.

Ready for action

5.11.12

Asher sneaks out into the garage every chance he gets.  This is how I found him on Friday.  In the garage, in the wagon, wearing his helmet.  I guess he was ready for some off road wagon riding.

And while Asher is looking for trouble every chance he gets, Teagan on the other hand can often be found quietly coloring.  The difference between boys and girls....

5.12.12

We got the kids their first water guns.  They both knew exactly what to do with them!  Of course the coaching from their Dad, telling them to spray their Mom didn't help.

5.13.12

Anytime Asher sees Paul get out any tool, his eyes light up and he gets so excited!  He's always ready to lend a hand.

The best part about making cream cheese frosting is licking the beater!  I was planning to make a coconut cake today, but Teagan really wanted a carrot cake.  She had been telling me that it was Mother's Day so I could do whatever I wanted, but then she said suggested I could make the coconut cake for another Mother's Day.  Today she wanted carrot cake!

Fire Station Tour

5.7.12

The kiddos helped make orange sherbert, but the best part was eating out of the ice cream maker bowl.

A boy can never be too careful.   Asher loves to wear Teagan's bike helmet.  It's good to take extra precautions when playing in an overstuffed closet.

5.8.12

It was a beautiful day for a walk to the park and playing in the stream at Breckinridge Park.  Nice cool breeze and not hot at all.  Asher and Teagan love wading in the creek and watching the fish.

5.9.12

We got to tour our neighborhood fire station today.  Asher really enjoyed seeing the fire trucks.  Teagan liked climibing inside them, but of course refused any pictures.

Hanging outside, digging in the dirt.

5.10.12

"Look!  I dressed myself!"

The weather has been a little cool for swimming the last few days but the kids are still enjoying the water table and hose.  After dinner tonight we heated up the hot tub and went for a warmer swim.  Asher was quite the little fish and after jumping in the water, he came up with a big smile each time saying, "a bubble."

Spring days

5.4.12

We went to the Arboretum today to have the kids pictures taken.  They have a glass sculpture exhibit right now that Asher was really fascinated with.

5.5.12

Teagan's typical "no pictures!"  I think she's getting tired of the mama paparazzi constantly stalking her.

Asher picked up the hose from the Polaris while we were swimming and Paul and I had quite a laugh, and quite a few pictures, over the effect.

5.6.12

We had a nice relaxing family day today.  We went to Firewheel to let the kids play and we shopped a bit.  After that we went to lunch, home for a nap, and then played outside for awhile in the afternoon.  It's nice to have Paul home again on the weekends.

Daddy's home!

5.1.12
The kiddos were so excited to have their Daddy back home.  I let them stay up until he got home a little after 9pm and they enjoyed getting to read their bedtime stories with their dad.

 5.2.12

Asher was trying out the role of an Old Navy mannequin.  He loves going to Old Navy to visit the puppy dog.

Teagan had to bring her babies and double stroller to Firewheel.  She loves to push them around and let them play with her at the playground.  And of course they enjoyed the train ride with us.

5.3.12

I came into the play room this morning to find Teagan getting Asher all dressed up in some of her doll clothes.  She had put some bloomers and a onesie on him.  He actually quite liked the Mickey Mouse onesie and didn't want to take it off when it was time to get dressed.

Teagan was pretending to be a baby also, wearing a fleece diaper cover over her shorts.
