Day 21

Asher is always ready to help with tools or a measuring tape!


I've been strictly limiting sugar and un-healthy foods while the kids have been recovering from being sick, but when Teagan asked Paul if he would grill cast-iron skillet cookies, it sure sounded good to me!

Day 18, 19, & 20

It's been a crazy few days. Teagan has been sick and no one is sleeping well. In between fussing and not feeling well, Teagan has had some burst of energy. Gotta burn it off somehow. Why not jump off of the cabinets onto the trampoline?

Asher is our official mess-maker. He loves to dump everything out of these buckets. On Thursday, he did it twice.


It was a beautiful 70 degree day. Of course that calls for drawing snow men with sidewalk chalk.


Friday- Day 100 (so it feels like) of sick Teagan. We actually went to the doctor in the afternoon to get a nasal spray that we thought might help stop all the sinus drainage so she might sleep at night. She wan't a very cooperative patient with the nasal spray though, so I don't know that we actually got any in her nose.



By the time we finished dinner it was starting to get a little bit dark. We still managed to get a little outdoor play and chalk drawing in.

Day 17

Asher is always close by observing Teagan. She was hard at work painting Rapunzel's tower. Some day I'll feel brave enough to let Asher try a little painting!

Day 15 & 16 Sick Baby

Sunday started out as a beautiful day. We took the kids to play at the Firewheel playground in the morning and then played in the yard at home in the afternoon. However, by the evening, Asher was clearly not feeling well. He has some sort of runny nose and cough bug. After I put him to bed, he kept waking up coughing and crying. I ended up sitting on the couch and holding him while he slept until I was ready to go to bed with him. And Teagan, in dress up clothes again, as usual!

Poor Asher. This is the first time he's ever been really sick. He hasn't been very interested in playing or eating today. Just wants to be held. Funny how relatively straightened up the house stayed today with Asher not having any interest in playing with toys. He did seem to perk up around 5 this evening, so hopefully he's on the mend.


Teagan is dressed up in her "wedding dress." She is planning to marry me. When I told her I was already married to her daddy, she said, "Just pretend Mommy."

Day 14

Teagan and Asher were hard at work "fixing" the learning tower with screwdrivers this morning.

While Teagan was jumping upstairs today, she told me, "I'm so full of energy, I NEVER want to sleep!" When I asked her to be careful jumping by Asher, she said, "I don't want to jump on my favorite brother."

Day 12

Whenever Teagan helps cook, she always blows kisses into the food to add the special ingredient, love. Tonight at dinner, she said, "Mommy, this is so delicious! Did you put lots of love into it?"

Day 11

We had another beautiful 60 degree January day today. Teagan decided to bring Molly and Minnie Mouse on our walk around the neighborhood.



Asher has decided he only wants to eat dinner if he can sit in my chair and eat off of my plate. He took over my plate of spaghetti squash and meat sauce and made quite the mess tonight!

Haircut!

Asher usually waits until I've got my hands in raw meat or something else messy, and then he pulls everything out of the kitchen drawer and unrolls all the wax paper, foil, or plastic wrap. So helpful!


Teagan got a kids cookbook for Christmas and it has a Cranberry Lemonade Recipe she really likes. Seems like we make it almost every day. For some reason she likes to drink it with a spoon. And Asher is always close by waiting for her to offer him a few spoonfuls.

I took Asher for his 3rd haircut today. Either he is getting used to the process, or was just happier because he got to watch Wiggles, but today was the first haircut that he didn't cry through. He sat on my lap, watched Wiggles, and was generally very cooperative. He always looks so much more grown up after a haircut.

Day 9

Asher loves his kale chips! And check out that post-naptime bedhead! I don't know why I thought it was a good idea to let them eat kale chips and deli meat on the couch though. That was a nice mess.


Teagan sleeps with her puppy and kitty every night. Now she also likes to bring them to the breakfast with her. They each wanted their own bowl of orange smoothie this morning.

We had a nice day at home today and Teagan and Asher played really well together. Teagan said, "I actually am glad that I have a baby brother because he always makes me giggle." Good, because it's a little late to give him back.
