Teagan's 6th Birthday

I can't believe my baby girl has now turned 6 years old!  She wanted to have a pool party so we chose to do that on the day before her birthday, celebrating with her birthday buddy cousin Audrey. I made a mermaid theme cake and we heated the pool so everyone could swim.  All the kids enjoyed it, but only 2 adults chose to get in the heated, but still only about 80 degree water.

On the morning of her Easter birthday, she opened her presents and then both kids opened their Easter baskets.  She really loved her new mermaid tail and tried it on right away. Then we headed out to Scarborough Faire for the 2rd year in a row.  I think it is her new birthday tradition! The kids loved the shows and rides.  Teagan said her favorite was the juggler, but she also liked the mermaids a lot.  She chose to get a mermaid doll after considering her other options of fairy wings or a rag doll.

Thanksgiving 2012

This year, my niece Gabi's birthday, and my sister April's also, fell on Thanksgiving day.  We celebrated birthdays and Thanksgiving in Duncanville at Dad's house.  It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed our Thanksgiving feast out on the back deck.

Halloween 2012

We continued our Halloween tradition of going Trick or Treating in Allen with cousins.  Asher wanted to dress up as a Fireman, and Teagan decided she wanted to have the same costume.  After spending a small fortune on iron-on reflective tape to make the costumes, Teagan decided last minute that she wanted to be something else.  Too late!  Even if I would have had time to to make another costume, that wasn't going to happen. Teagan wanted me to dress up also, so I went as the fire "chief". After a fun night of trick or treating, Asher fell asleep on the way home.

The kids chose some of their candy to keep and enjoy and then left the rest out for the candy gnome.  The candy gnome goes around on Halloween night eating all the extra candy and leaves presents for children to "pay" them.  This year, the candy gnome left a toy cash register.

Back to blogging.....

Last year I was doing a "366 day" project where I was planning to take a picture of the kids every day for a whole year.  Just kind of documenting the joys of our day to day life.  What I didn't know was that posting that many pics on the blog was going to make me reach a max photo limit on Blogger.  I contemplated switching to another site, but I think I am just going to suck it up and pay a monthly fee for the rest of my life so I can have more photo space and continue with Blogger. I will probably do a few catch up posts with significant events like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Birthdays, and then get back on track.  Since I don't really keep any kind of "baby book" for the kids, this is sort of my way of keeping a journal and pictures of their babyhood/ childhood.

San Antonio

10.25.12

We had been wanting to take the kids to San Antonio for awhile now, so we were excited to go on a trip with our friends who have a little boy the same age as Teagan.  On the way to San Antonio we stopped at the Austin Children's Museum.  The kids had a lot of fun there and it was a good way to break up the trip.

The train table was the first thing you see inside the museum.  We almost couldn't get the kids to move on and explore anything else!

Teagan practiced her balancing walking on different bridges.

They had a fun construction area with toy construction vehicles and lots of rubber chips to move around. Asher tried out the big digger.

10.26.12

Our first day in San Antonio, we headed to Sea World.  Unfortunately it started raining as soon as we got there and was pretty cold.  We had stop at the gift shop for umbrellas, gloves, and sweatshirts.  Luckily the weather cleared up a bit and we got to enjoy the shows and the kids rides.  Due to the weather, there was no crowds for the rides and the kids got to ride them over and over again with no lines.

Teagan and her friend loved the Shamu roller coaster.

Asher did several rides on the carousel while Teagan was doing the roller coaster.

Big hug from Cookie Monster.

10.27.12

On our second day in San Antonio, we headed back to Sea World.  The weather was a bit warmer and there was more crowds, but we still saw more shows and did the rides.

We had a lot of fun feeding and touching the dolphins.

10.28.12

Before heading back home, we spent the morning at the River Walk.  We had a nice brunch and took a long boat ride on the river.

We ended up getting pass that is good for admission all next year, so we will definitely be heading back sometime next Spring or Summer.

Pumpkins at the Arboretum

10.19.12

We went with a friend for our annual trip to see the pumpkins at the Arboretum.  It was quite busy that day and the kids loved that we got to ride a shuttle bus since we had to park so far away in remote parking.

10.20.12

A new fascination for the kiddos is printable coloring pages.  Teagan will think of various "subjects" like princesses, or pumpkins, and ask me to print a coloring page for her.

10.21.12

Hanging out in a laundry basket, coloring.

10.23.12

I gave the kids each their own headphones with an audio book, and the house was completely quiet for about one whole minute.  Then Asher moved on to something else.

10.24.12

I know I can reach it!

Hanging out in the living room, under the shade of her umbrella, listening to an audiobook.

State Fair

10.6.12

We actually got a nice, cool Fall day.  Teagan really wanted to carve pumpkins, so we headed out to choose some.

What about his big one?

Contemplating the options....

10.7.12

Teagan chose this cat silhouette design and I carved it for her.

Since it was a nice cool evening, Paul lit a fire in the fireplace and we had a little picnic dinner in front of it.

10.8.12

 Cheers!

10.9.12

I made Teagan a "pig pancake" as she requested and she deemed it just as good as the one she saw on the Betty Crocker video.

Asher wants nothing to do with pancakes or anything bread-like, so he stuck to his typical smoothie.

 10.10.12

We had so much fun at the State Fair with Grandma.  The kids got to pretend to do a bunch of things on a farm, complete with driving a tractor.

Asher liked the grilled corn.

Teagan got her first corny dog.  She seemed to like the hot dog, but wasn't so sure about the breading.

10.11.12

When you need a seat to sit down and drink your hot chocolate, sometimes you just have to improvise.  A baby doll bath tub turned upside down will do.

Hanging out in their little Learning Tower play house.

10.12.12

 Painting together.

10.13.12

Climbing on the buffalo at Waters Creek.

10.14.12

Teagan convinced me to make gingerbread cookies so she could have a tea party.  After they were all decorated, she suddenly decided that she and Asher were puppies and we needed to have our tea party on the floor.

10.15.12

Teagan and Asher decided to un-stuff her dog to make snow.  I really wasn't crazy about that idea, but I guess it was easy enough to clean up.

 10.16.12

Paul took the day off after the 10/15 deadline, so Teagan decided she wanted us to go to the park and feed the ducks.

 10.17.12

Teagan is always dressing up for something....

Asher's silliness.  He thinks it's pretty funny to blow raspberries.

10.18.12

Teagan likes to make beds for her and Asher on our front rug.  It really grosses me out that they like to lay down on the rug everyone steps on as they first walk in the door, but for some reason they love to pretend to sleep there.
